One such tool called emotion AI analyzes facial expressions based on a person's faceprint to find their goals, attitudes, and interior emotions. The "basic emotions" theory, which asserts that people all over the world express the same six basic internal emotional states (happiness, surprise, fear, disgust, anger, and sadness) through their facial expressions, which are influenced by our biological and evolutionary origins, is the foundation of this application, which is also known as emotion AI or affective computing. This idea sounds logical on the surface because nonverbal communication heavily relies on facial expressions. Emotion AI is an emerging technology that "allows a computer and systems to identify, process, and simulate human feelings and emotions," according to a recent report by tech industry research firm AIMultiple.

A new report has claimed the Chinese government is now implementing cutting edge artificial intelligence to monitor the minds of dozens of Communist party officials. Researchers in China claimed to have developed software that can acutely analyze facial expressions and brain waves to monitor if subjects were attentive to "thought and political education." China's stringent police state has been radically upscaled over the past decade, using big data, machine learning, face recognition technology and artificial intelligence to build what many have labelled the world's most complex digital dictatorship. According to the Hefei Comprehensive National Science Centre, the high-tech development would be used to "further solidify their confidence and determination to be grateful to the party, listen to the party and follow the party." In a short clip, a subject was seen looking at screen at a kiosk, scrolling through exercises promoting party policy.

China has reportedly created an artificial intelligence (AI) system that can assess the loyalty of Communist Party members. According to Didi Tang, a reporter for the Times in Beijing, the system has been developed by researchers at Hefei Comprehensive National Science Centre. It can analyse facial expressions and brain waves of Communist Party members to determine how receptive they are to'thought education'. Tang says the technology was detailed in an article that was uploaded to the internet on July 1 and deleted shortly afterwards. The artificial intelligence (AI) system can check the loyalty of Communist Party members.
